Despite their differences in position, three men—the youngest senior executive of the Port Mafia, Osamu Dazai, the lowest ranking member, Sakunosuke Oda, and the intelligence agent, Angou Sakaguchi—gather at the Lupin Bar at the end of the day to relax and take delight in the company of friends.
However, one night, Angou disappears. A photograph taken at the bar is all that is left of the three together.
Fast forward to the present, and Dazai is now a member of the Armed Detective Agency. The Guild, an American gifted organization, has entered the fray and is intent on taking the Agency's work permit. They must now divide their attention between the two groups, the Guild and the Port Mafia, who oppose their very existence.

Where it came from
Bungo Stray Dogs, season two, was produced by the studio Bones and released in 2016 as a direct continuation of the supernatural mystery series. It adapts the light novel storylines regarding the protagonist Osamu Dazai’s past in the Port Mafia, providing critical context to the character dynamics established in the first season. The production aimed to lean into a more dramatic and introspective tone, contrasting the lighthearted urban fantasy elements of the initial episodes with the grim history of the show's literary-inspired cast.
The character designs, originally derived from Sango Harukawa’s illustrations for the manga, were translated to the screen by animator Nobuhiro Arai. The aesthetic emphasizes sharp, stylized silhouettes and a distinct color palette that distinguishes the flashback narrative from the main timeline. Upon its release, the second season was received as a significant narrative improvement, with critics frequently praising the deeper focus on character psychology and the seamless integration of real-world authors as fictionalized, supernatural personas.
