Where it came from
Candy☆Boy EX01 - Forecast of the Future was released in 2008 as a special follow-up to the original net animation series produced by AIC. The project emerged during a period when Japanese studios were increasingly experimenting with direct-to-web distribution models, allowing for niche, character-driven narratives that might not have fit the traditional television broadcast schedule of the time.
The series centers on the relationship between twin sisters Kanade and Yukino Sakurai, navigating the complexities of their bond while attending high school. The design aesthetic is characterized by the soft, pastel-toned art style typical of late 2000s slice-of-life anime, aiming to emphasize a gentle and intimate tone. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the yuri genre for its delicate pacing and focus on emotional development rather than overt spectacle.
