Where it came from
Caramel Honey is a short-form original net animation produced by the renowned studio Production I.G in 2018. It was released as part of a collaborative promotional initiative aimed at showcasing the studio's technical versatility and their ability to craft atmospheric, character-driven narratives within a very compressed timeframe. The project served as a creative exercise for the animation team, focusing on high-quality visual aesthetics and fluid motion rather than an expansive plot.
The design of the piece leans into a warm, inviting visual palette that emphasizes the titular theme of comfort and sweetness. Production I.G utilized this project to explore experimental lighting techniques and subtle character animation that would later inform their more expansive series. Upon its release, it was noted by animation enthusiasts for its polished aesthetic and technical precision, cementing its status as a notable example of the studio's proficiency in short-format storytelling.
