CCW: Crazy Clay Wrestling

Crazy Clay Wrestling (CCW) emerged in 2007 as an independent web series created by the animator known as 'Icky' (Brian Ickler). Produced during the early heyday of Flash-based internet animation, the series utilized stop-motion claymation to parody professional wrestling. It captured a niche audience by blending crude, handmade aesthetics with the dramatic tropes of televised wrestling, becoming a notable example of the grassroots creative content that defined the mid-2000s web culture.

The project was born from an interest in combining tactile, physical media with digital distribution. By photographing clay figures in sequential poses, the creator achieved a distinct, jerky movement style that resonated with online forums and early viral video platforms. The series was well-received by fans of lo-fi internet humor, praised primarily for its earnest charm and the labor-intensive dedication required to animate complex wrestling maneuvers using malleable materials.
