Chidori RSC

Chidori RSC, also known as Rifle is Beautiful, premiered in 2019 as an adaptation of the manga series by Akki Sarumi. Produced by Studio 3Hz, the series focuses on a group of high school students who form a marksmanship club. The project was designed to capture the niche interest of air rifle competition, balancing the technical aspects of the sport with the conventions of the slice-of-life genre, reflecting a growing trend in Japanese animation to spotlight specialized school clubs.

The character designs and animation style were crafted to emphasize a bright, accessible aesthetic intended to contrast with the disciplined nature of competitive shooting. Upon release, the series was noted by critics for its earnest portrayal of hobby culture and its effort to bring a less conventional extracurricular activity into the spotlight. It occupies a distinct space in late 2010s television animation as a lighthearted exploration of focus, precision, and friendship.
