Chiisana Kyojin Microman

Chiisana Kyojin Microman, released in 1999, served as a televised revival of the long-standing Takara toy franchise. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the series was designed to breathe new life into the Microman line by blending traditional science fiction tropes with the aesthetics of the late nineties. The narrative follows a group of small, superhuman beings who protect Earth from interdimensional threats, reflecting the era's fascination with high-tech, hero-based action shows.

The character designs were crafted to emphasize the modular nature of the physical toys, encouraging a synergy between the animation and the retail products. While it faced stiff competition from other hobby-focused anime of the time, the series remains significant for its attempt to bridge the gap between classic Japanese toy culture and the more character-driven storytelling styles popular at the turn of the millennium. It is remembered by enthusiasts as a nostalgic entry point into the sprawling Microman history.
