Chiisana Tayori, Ookina Tayori.

Chiisana Tayori, Ookina Tayori, known internationally as Small Message, Big Message, was released in 2017 as a short original net animation. Produced by CoMix Wave Films, the studio renowned for its collaboration with director Makoto Shinkai, the project was created as a promotional piece for Suntory’s Minami-Alps Tennensui water brand. The film serves as a gentle, atmospheric exploration of the connection between nature and human life, utilizing the studio’s signature lush animation style and meticulous attention to lighting to evoke a sense of tranquility.

The animation was directed by Hiroyuki Morita, who brought a grounded, contemplative aesthetic to the short. By focusing on quiet, everyday moments rather than traditional narrative conflict, the production aimed to reflect the brand's identity through themes of purity and the passage of time. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of Japanese animation for its technical polish and emotional resonance, often cited as a standout example of how high-quality commercial work can function effectively as standalone artistic storytelling.
