Where it came from
Chuusotsu Worker kara Hajimeru Koukou Seikatsu, or 'High School Life Starting from a Middle School Graduate,' was released in 2018 as an original net animation (ONA). It originated as a light novel series written by Minami Shizuku and illustrated by Haruichi, which debuted in 2017. The adaptation was produced by the studio feel. to bring the narrative of a young protagonist re-entering the education system to a digital audience.
The story focuses on a young man who dropped out of school and attempts to restart his life by enrolling in a correspondence high school, navigating the complex social dynamics of a campus full of individuals with diverse backgrounds. The animation design emphasizes a grounded, slice-of-life aesthetic meant to mirror the light novel's introspective tone, and while the production was modest, it was received as a sincere exploration of unconventional paths to maturity.
