Where it came from
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! was released in 2017 as a two-part theatrical OVA, serving as the grand finale for the original anime franchise produced by Studio Comet. This production was created to wrap up the narrative arcs of the Binan High School Earth Defense Club members following the conclusion of the second television season, providing fans with a final send-off as the core characters prepared for graduation.
Directed by Shinji Takamatsu, who was instrumental in defining the show’s unique blend of magical girl tropes and deadpan parody, the OVA was designed to maintain the series' signature aesthetic of absurd humor and vibrant transformation sequences. The project was received as a heartfelt conclusion by the dedicated fanbase, lauded for its ability to balance the franchise's comedic roots with a genuine, character-driven emotional resolution for the cast.
