Where it came from
DamePri Anime Caravan was produced by Studio Flad and broadcast in 2018 as an adaptation of the popular otome mobile game Dame x Prince. The series was developed to capitalize on the success of the original game, which featured a humorous take on the reverse harem genre by focusing on princesses and princes who were intentionally designed with exaggerated, flawed personalities. The studio aimed to translate the game's lighthearted narrative style into an episodic television format, balancing romantic tropes with self-aware comedy.
The character designs were overseen by the production team to maintain the visual aesthetic established by the mobile game's original art director. This approach was intended to appeal directly to the established player base, prioritizing recognizable character archetypes and familiar color palettes. Upon release, the series was received primarily as a niche title for dedicated fans of the source material, noted for its comedic tone and the playful chemistry between the eccentric leads.
