Dandelion follows Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, members of the Japanese Angel Federation’s Send-Off Department. Their job? Tracking down restless earthbound spirits and gently guiding them to the afterlife.
While other angels rush to close their cases, the 21st Division’s Dandelion Clan takes a different approach. Dandelion members Tetsuo Tanba and his leader, Misaki Kurogane, listen to each spirit’s regrets and help them resolve what’s holding them back. They even help a spirit who’s an elderly man running at full speed, desperate to escape.
The angels themselves are full of surprises. Tanba’s permanent scowl and sharp tongue mask a deeply compassionate nature, while Kurogane is a formidable force — despite her girlish appearance. She’s rumored to have laid to rest the legendary soul of Musashi Miyamoto.

Where it came from
Dandelion is an original net animation produced by Studio NAZ and released in 2026. As a standalone project, it occupies a specific niche within the contemporary Japanese animation landscape, focusing on understated visual storytelling and character-driven intimacy rather than the high-octane spectacle often associated with major series productions. The project emerged during a period where independent and shorter-form digital animations were increasingly utilized as a canvas for experimental directorial techniques.
The creative direction for Dandelion emphasized a minimalist aesthetic, favoring atmospheric depth and subtle color palettes to evoke a sense of quiet introspection. The animation was designed to explore themes of transience and personal growth, reflecting the studio's desire to capture fleeting human experiences through careful frame composition. Upon its release, the work was noted for its technical precision and its ability to maintain a consistent emotional resonance within its brief, tightly paced runtime.
