The evil Shadow Lord has taken control of the kingdom of Deltora and has driven the land and its people into misfortune and suffering. Lief, the son of a blacksmith, has just turned sixteen and is entrusted, along with his two companions Barda and Jasmine, with an important mission: to retrieve the stolen seven magical stones that once reunited within the Belt of Deltora, will bring power to the true heir of Deltora and give him the power to free the kingdom from the tyranny of the Shadow Lord. There is just one problem; the seven stones have been scattered all across Deltora and currently reside in the hands of seven wicked men who are not easily willing to give them up.

Where it came from
Deltora Quest, produced by OLM and released in 2007, is an animated television series based on the high-fantasy book series written by Australian author Emily Rodda. The show was conceived as an international co-production intended to translate the popular literary world into a long-form anime format, aiming to capture the adventure-driven narrative of Lief, Barda, and Jasmine as they collect the seven gems of the Belt of Deltora to defeat the Shadow Lord.
The character designs were overseen by Shingo Araki and Michi Himeno, renowned veterans known for their work on Saint Seiya and Sailor Moon, who sought to blend the classic aesthetics of 1980s fantasy anime with a modern, episodic pacing. While the series maintains a dedicated following among fans of early 2000s fantasy animation for its faithfulness to the source material's quest structure, it received a mixed critical reception regarding its pacing and animation quality compared to more contemporary high-budget anime productions of the era.
