Where it came from
Released in 2023 by Polygon Pictures, this short animation was produced as part of a promotional campaign for the Pokémon franchise. It highlights the studio's expertise in stylized 3D computer animation, utilizing their signature aesthetic to bring the inquisitive, caffeine-loving version of Pikachu to life within a lighthearted mystery narrative set in a bustling office environment.
The short was designed to leverage the established, gravel-voiced persona of Detective Pikachu, expanding the character's appeal beyond the theatrical films and video games. It was received as a charming, bite-sized narrative that emphasizes the character's unique personality and comedic timing, serving as a successful example of how digital shorts can effectively maintain audience engagement with a major intellectual property.
