Where it came from
Detectives These Days Are Crazy! emerged in 2025 as a lighthearted addition to the KADOKAWA production slate, reflecting the studio's long-standing interest in genre-bending comedy. The series was developed to deconstruct the tropes of the classic mystery procedural, placing eccentric characters into high-stakes scenarios to subvert audience expectations of how a traditional detective story should unfold.
The series design focuses on a vibrant, exaggerated aesthetic intended to mirror the chaotic energy of its protagonist. Created by the creative teams at KADOKAWA, the visual direction leans into expressive character models and sharp, rhythmic editing to emphasize the slapstick nature of the narrative. Upon its debut, the show was noted by critics for its energetic pacing and its ability to blend absurdity with a genuinely engaging episodic structure.
