DON'T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro debuted as an anime adaptation in 2021, produced by Telecom Animation Film. The series is based on the popular manga by the artist known as 774, which began serialization in 2017. The narrative explores the complex, often provocative dynamic between a shy high school boy and a mischievous, assertive younger student who relentlessly teases him, a premise that draws on established tropes of rom-com manga while focusing on the evolving psychological connection between the two protagonists.

The adaptation was directed by Hirokazu Hanai and sought to translate 774's distinct art style into a fluid television format. The production faced the challenge of maintaining the manga's sharp, caricature-driven humor while ensuring the characters remained engaging to a broader audience. Upon its release, the series garnered significant attention for its polarizing tone and expressive animation, establishing itself as a notable entry in the 'teasing' subgenre of school-life anime.
