During class, Nobita questions the teacher where heaven is located when he was being taught about clouds. Being laughed at, Nobita looks for proof that a heavenly place exists on the clouds, but was explained by Doraemon that it cannot exist scientifically. Disappointed, he was eventually helped by Doraemon to create their own kingdom of clouds. Little did they know that there are creatures who have been living on clouds for a long time.

Where it came from
Released in 1992 as the thirteenth entry in the long-running Doraemon feature film series, Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds was directed by Tsutomu Shibayama. The narrative expands upon the character's traditional premise by incorporating themes of environmental preservation and climate responsibility, reflecting the growing ecological concerns prevalent in Japanese media during the early nineties.
The film was produced by Shin-Ei Animation and highlights the signature character design established by Fujiko F. Fujio, who oversaw the series' artistic direction. Critics and audiences of the era noted the film for its ambitious world-building and its departure from purely lighthearted adventure, as it introduced more serious allegorical elements regarding human impact on nature, cementing its place as a distinctive installment in the franchise's cinematic history.
