Dou Po Cangqiong: San Nian Zhi Yue

Dou Po Cangqiong: San Nian Zhi Yue, or Battle Through the Heavens: Three-Year Agreement, was produced by China Literature and released in 2021 as a specialized ONA miniseries. It serves as a narrative bridge and high-fidelity technical showcase within the broader Battle Through the Heavens franchise, focusing on the climactic resolution of the protagonist Xiao Yan’s promise to duel Nalan Yanran. Its development reflects the industry's shift toward high-end 3D CGI animation in the Chinese market, aiming to elevate the visual standard for xianxia adaptations.

The production sought to refine the character designs and fluid combat choreography established in earlier seasons, responding to fan desire for a more cinematic treatment of the core conflict. By condensing the source material from the web novel into a focused, high-intensity format, the studio emphasized dynamic lighting and complex physics-based combat effects. Upon release, the series was widely lauded for its technical ambition, marking a milestone in the studio’s capability to sustain prolonged, high-quality action sequences that remained faithful to the spirit of the original literary work.
