Double Hard

Double Hard is a high-profile original net animation (ONA) series created by the studio Animation Planet, released in the early 2010s. It emerged during a period when Japanese animation studios were increasingly experimenting with web-based distribution models to bypass traditional television broadcasting constraints and reach a global, digital-native audience directly.

The series is noted for its distinct aesthetic, which leans heavily into the exaggerated, hyper-stylized character designs common in late-2000s action anime. Directed by industry veteran Nobuhiro Muto, the production focused on fluid, high-octane choreography. While it served as a successful showcase for the studio's technical animation capabilities, it was primarily received by critics as a visually driven project that prioritized kinetic spectacle over traditional narrative depth.
