Dragon Ball DAIMA

Dragon Ball DAIMA was produced by Toei Animation and released in 2024 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Akira Toriyama's original manga. The series was developed as a direct contribution from Toriyama, who was heavily involved in the story, character designs, and world-building prior to his passing. The concept centers on a conspiracy that turns Goku and his allies into children, forcing them to venture into a mysterious new realm known as the Demon Realm to restore their original forms.

The visual direction of DAIMA emphasizes a return to the series' roots, prioritizing fluid, high-quality animation that draws inspiration from the classic aesthetic of the franchise's early years. Toriyama’s involvement aimed to infuse the series with a sense of adventure and lighthearted action, distinguishing it from the escalating power levels of recent entries. Upon its release, it was received as a heartfelt tribute to the creator's legacy, praised for its charm and the depth of its new character contributions.
