Thousands of years in the future, a city known as “Eden 3” is inhabited solely by robots whose former masters vanished a long time ago. On a routine assignment, two farming robots accidentally awaken a human baby girl from stasis questioning all they were taught to believe -- that humans were nothing more than a forbidden ancient myth. Together, the two robots secretly raise the child in a safe haven outside Eden.

Where it came from
Eden was released in 2021 as a four-episode original net animation produced by Qubic Pictures and directed by Yasuhiro Irie. The project was conceived as a high-concept science fiction narrative set thousands of years in the future, where a world populated entirely by robots discovers a human child. The production sought to blend traditional Japanese animation aesthetics with a distinct, clean 3D-CG visual style to explore themes of environmental reclamation and the intersection of artificial intelligence and humanity.
The series received attention for its departure from standard genre tropes, focusing on a post-human world where nature has reclaimed urban spaces. Critics often noted the deliberate pacing and the gentle, pastoral tone of the storytelling, which contrasted with the typical high-action intensity of contemporary sci-fi animation. While the visual direction was praised for its unique character designs and atmospheric world-building, it remains a specialized entry in the Qubic Pictures catalog, recognized for its philosophical approach to the 'robot-as-parent' archetype.
