Where it came from
This special was produced by J.C.Staff in 2017 as a thematic extension of the manga series Eikou Naki Tensai-tachi, originally created by Shingo Ito and illustrated by Hiroto Izumi. The manga gained critical acclaim for its biographical focus on historical figures who achieved great feats without receiving traditional recognition, blending rigorous research with dramatic narrative arcs. The 2017 production sought to distill these historical accounts into a concise animated format, maintaining the manga's dedication to honoring the often-overlooked architects of human progress.
The creative direction focused on translating the intricate, realistic art style of the source material into a fluid animation medium. J.C.Staff leveraged their experience in character-driven storytelling to ensure the historical gravity of the subjects was preserved while making the narratives accessible to a modern audience. Upon release, the special was received as a respectful tribute to the source material, praised by fans of the original manga for its faithfulness to the tone and educational intent of the series.
