Eikyuu Shounen: Eternal Boys - NEXT STAGE

Eikyuu Shounen: Eternal Boys - NEXT STAGE was released in 2023 as a direct cinematic follow-up to the television anime series Eternal Boys. Produced by LIDENFILMS, the film serves to extend the narrative of the main characters—a group of six middle-aged men who defy societal expectations by forming an idol group. The project was created to explore themes of aging, perseverance, and the pursuit of dreams long after the traditional youth-focused idol industry would have deemed these men past their prime.

The film maintains the character-driven aesthetic established by the series, focusing on the comedic and emotional dynamics of the ensemble cast. It was designed to provide a concluding emotional arc to the group's journey, highlighting the transition from their initial struggle for recognition to the challenges of maintaining their career on the NEXT STAGE. Upon release, the film was received as a wholesome, lighthearted addition to the franchise, appreciated by its core demographic for its focus on characters who are not typically represented in the hyper-youthful idol genre.
