The "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other's only family.
Masamune's novel illustrator, penname “Ero Manga Sensei,” draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed … that his “Ero Manga Sensei” is his own younger sister! To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shoujo manga creator becomes their rival!

Where it came from
Eromanga Sensei was produced by A-1 Pictures and aired in 2017, based on the light novel series written by Tsukasa Fushimi and illustrated by Hiro Kanzaki. The project emerged from the creative partnership that previously produced Oreimo, continuing the studio's exploration of themes related to light novel authorship, otaku culture, and complex sibling dynamics. The narrative centers on a high school student who secretly writes light novels while managing his household and his relationship with his reclusive younger step-sister, an illustrator.
The character designs by Hiro Kanzaki were adapted for animation by Hiroyuki Oda, focusing on a vibrant, high-contrast aesthetic typical of the mid-2010s romantic comedy genre. Upon its release, the series generated significant critical discussion regarding its heavy reliance on fan-service tropes and its meta-textual commentary on the anime production industry. While it polarized critics, the show successfully solidified its place within the light-novel-to-anime pipeline, maintaining a recognizable visual identity within the A-1 Pictures catalog.
