Despite his adoptive father's warnings that the girl found in the remnants of a destroyed city is too dangerous to be considered anything other than a tool or weapon, Shirou Emiya comes to treat Miyu as a younger sister. But when Shirou relaxes his guard and Miyu starts normal school, the Ainsworth family and their agents swoop in, kidnapping the girl with the goal of sacrificing her! Faced with the realization that Miyu's ability to do good will always be equaled by her capacity for destruction, Shirou must attempt to both rescue his adopted sister, and decide how to confront the threat that her powers will always pose.

Where it came from
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya: Vow in the Snow was released in 2017 as the first feature-length film in the long-running spin-off series of the Fate franchise. Produced by studio SILVER LINK., the film serves as a prequel to the main series, focusing on the backstory of the character Miyu Edelfelt and her relationship with Shirou Emiya. It adapts a significant narrative arc from the manga, shifting the tone from the lighthearted magical girl tropes of previous seasons toward a more dramatic and action-oriented emotional core.
The film was directed by Shin Oonuma, a veteran director who has overseen the entire Prisma Illya television series. His direction sought to maintain the visual consistency of the established anime aesthetic while elevating the production values for a theatrical release. Upon its debut, the film was well-regarded by fans of the franchise for its character development and intense pacing, successfully translating the heavy thematic stakes of the source material into a cinematic format.
