Where it came from
Follow Your Fantasy was produced by CygamesPictures as a high-quality promotional short, released in 2019 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Granblue Fantasy franchise. Created in collaboration with the animation studio CloverWorks, the piece was designed to showcase the visual potential of the world through fluid, cinematic animation that bridges the gap between the game's static character art and a fully realized moving narrative.
The animation was directed by Shingo Yamashita, a renowned animator known for his distinct sense of perspective and kinetic camerawork. By focusing on the emotional journey of the main protagonist, Gran, and his connection to the series' iconic airship, the Grandcypher, the team aimed to capture the sense of adventure central to the Granblue experience. It received critical acclaim from the fanbase for its polished aesthetic and ability to distill the essence of the long-running role-playing game into a concise, evocative visual story.
