The ultimate Regimental Food War continues as the culinary rebels led by Souma and the members of Kyokusei square off against epicurean elitist Azami and the Toutsuki Ten. At stake – the future of dining across Japan. Because if the rebels fail, Azami intends to impose his own tastes and techniques on the entire restaurant industry!
But the fine dining control freak has made a serious mistake in threatening the futures of Souma’s friends and family, as while the rebels may seem less experienced overall, this is ultimately a clash of skill, dedication, and, most of all, taste. That may be a recipe for disaster for the seasoned veterans!

Where it came from
Food Wars! The Fourth Plate, released in 2019, represents the second half of the Central Arc within the long-running Shokugeki no Soma anime series. Produced by studio J.C.STAFF, this season continues the adaptation of the manga written by Yuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. The series explores themes of culinary excellence and competitive pressure, specifically focusing on the high-stakes confrontation between the protagonist, Soma Yukihira, and the oppressive regime of the Central culinary institute.
The visual design of the series balances high-energy shonen tropes with detailed renderings of gourmet cuisine, a hallmark of Saeki's original artwork. J.C.STAFF maintained the series' signature style of exaggerated sensory reactions, which serve as a metaphorical representation of the characters' appreciation for exceptional food. Upon its release, the season was noted for its intensity and the progression of its ensemble cast, serving as a pivotal chapter that redefined the status quo of the academy.
