Futari wa Precure: Splash☆Star - Tick Tack Kiki Ippatsu!

Released in December 2006, Futari wa Precure: Splash Star - Tick Tack Kiki Ippatsu! serves as the theatrical entry for the third installment of Toei Animation's long-running magical girl franchise. The film was produced during a transitional period for the series, following the high success of the original Futari wa Precure and its sequel, Max Heart. It was directed by Atsushi Shimizu, who sought to translate the series' core themes of friendship and elemental balance into a high-stakes, time-sensitive narrative involving the characters Saki Hyuuga and Mai Mishou.

The film's visual identity remains consistent with the character designs of Akira Inagami, who established the series' signature aesthetic with its emphasis on dynamic transformation sequences and colorful, expressive combat. While the series itself faced competitive challenges in the children's afternoon television market during its run, this film was noted for its integration of 3D computer graphics alongside traditional hand-drawn animation, a technique Toei was increasingly utilizing to elevate the production value of their seasonal feature releases for the domestic Japanese market.
