Where it came from
Fuzzy Lips was produced by Studio Pashmina and released in 2014 as an original video animation (OVA). Emerging during a period when niche independent studios were experimenting with shorter, stylized formats, the work aimed to explore themes of whimsical surrealism. It serves as an example of the experimental storytelling common in smaller-scale animation projects of that era, prioritizing atmospheric visuals over traditional narrative structures.
The production sought to blend traditional hand-drawn aesthetics with a distinct, textured art style meant to evoke a tactile quality, from which the title draws its name. While the release was limited in its initial distribution, it garnered attention within specific circles of animation enthusiasts for its unconventional character design and its commitment to an abstract visual language that deviated from mainstream trends at the time.
