An angel at the top of an angel school has descended to the human world! However, she has already acclimated to the life of the human world so much that she ends up leading a self-indulgent life, skipping school all the time and being absorbed in online games. Gabriel soon forgets about her original goal to make human beings happy and has turned into a lazy and hopeless angel, or a “sloppy angel” in short. Amazingly, she swears to continue to fully enjoy the pleasure of various entertainments of the human world.

Where it came from
Gabriel DropOut was produced by Doga Kobo and aired in 2017 as an adaptation of the manga series by Ukami. The story centers on Gabriel White Tenma, a top-ranking angel who descends to Earth to attend a human high school, only to become addicted to video games and abandon her heavenly duties. The series emerged during a period of rising interest in the 'cute girls doing cute things' genre, blending slice-of-life tropes with supernatural comedy to explore the subversion of religious archetypes.
The production is notable for its vibrant art style and character designs, which were overseen by Katsuhiro Kumagai. Doga Kobo aimed to capture the comedic timing of the original manga while emphasizing the juxtaposition between the characters' divine or demonic origins and their mundane, often lazy, modern behaviors. Upon its release, the series received positive feedback for its humor and expressive animation, establishing itself as a well-regarded entry in the late 2010s comedy landscape.
