Girls und Panzer: Taiyaki War!

Girls und Panzer: Taiyaki War! was released in 2020 as a bonus original video animation included with the Japanese Blu-ray release of the sixth installment in the Das Finale film series. Produced by Studio Actas, the short was designed to provide a humorous, low-stakes palate cleanser following the intense tank combat sequences central to the primary narrative. It serves as an extension of the franchise's penchant for lighthearted slice-of-life vignettes that explore the mundane school lives of the Oarai Girls Academy students between their high-pressure competitive matches.

The animation maintains the distinct aesthetic established by director Tsutomu Mizushima, focusing on the character-driven chemistry that has defined the series since its 2012 debut. The short centers on the school's various teams attempting to settle a trivial dispute over the acquisition of local snacks, specifically taiyaki. By prioritizing comedic timing and character quirks over tactical military simulations, the piece was received as a charming diversion, well-regarded by the dedicated fanbase for its commitment to the established personality traits of the ensemble cast.
