Where it came from
Go For It, Nakamura-kun!! was adapted as an original net animation by Aniplex in 2026, based on the celebrated manga series by Syundei. The story originated as a serialized work in the magazine Opera, capturing attention for its gentle, comedic exploration of high school life and the awkward, sincere process of developing a first crush. The adaptation sought to translate Syundei’s distinctive, minimalist art style and comedic timing into a fluid animated format, focusing on the titular protagonist's internal monologues and his relatable struggles with shyness.
The design and aesthetic direction of the ONA aimed to preserve the bittersweet charm of the source material, emphasizing a nostalgic, soft-toned palette that complements the series' quiet humor. Upon its release, the project was received as a faithful expansion of the original manga, praised by long-time fans for maintaining the character dynamics and the specific emotional sincerity that made the print version a cult favorite within the boys' love genre.
