Grand Blues!

Grand Blues! was produced by DMM.futureworks and released in 2020 as a series of animated shorts. The project serves as an adaptation of the popular four-panel manga series Grand Blues!, which itself acts as a comedic spin-off of the Granblue Fantasy role-playing game franchise. The series was designed to offer a lighthearted, satirical look at the game's expansive world and cast of characters, providing a space for fans to engage with familiar figures in a more whimsical, chibi-styled format.

The animation style and direction focused on short-form storytelling, favoring slapstick humor and meta-commentary that resonated with an audience already deeply invested in the lore of the parent series. By leaning into the absurdity of the source material's tropes, the creative team aimed to maintain the engagement of the existing community while providing an accessible entry point for viewers. The series was generally well-received by the existing fan base for its ability to balance affectionate parody with high-quality, expressive animation.
