In the year 0079 of the Universal Century, the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation, plunging the two nations into war. Thanks to a revolutionary new weapon known as a Mobile Suit, the Zeon Force initially gains the upper hand. However, they lacked the power to take control of the entire Earth, bringing the war to a stalemate.
Eleven months into the war, the Earth Federation forces manage to seize a Zeon-controlled base located in Eastern Europe. Among the mixed battalion headed to reclaim this base is Sorari and the Red Wolves division, a Mobile Suit platoon that has just descended from space.

Where it came from
Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance was produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and released in 2024 as an ONA distributed through Netflix. The project represents a significant departure for the long-running franchise, utilizing Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a high-fidelity, photorealistic aesthetic rather than traditional cel-shaded animation. It serves as a tactical, ground-level perspective set during the One Year War, focusing on the Zeon side of the conflict to explore the visceral human cost of mobile suit warfare.
The production was directed by Erasmus Brosdau, known for his work in game cinematics, with a screenplay by Gavin Hignight. The design philosophy aimed to bridge the gap between traditional Japanese mecha storytelling and Western cinematic sensibilities, prioritizing gritty realism and character-driven stakes. While the project received interest for its bold technical shift, reception was varied among the established fanbase, with many viewers noting the unconventional visual style compared to the series' extensive history.
