Gunslinger Girl was produced by the studio Madhouse in 2003, adapting the manga series by Yu Aida. It centers on the Social Welfare Agency, a government organization that retrieves terminally ill girls and rehabilitates them into cybernetically enhanced assassins, exploring themes of conditioning, trauma, and the blurred lines between familial bonds and institutional exploitation.
