Guobao Te Gong

Guobao Te Gong, translated as National Treasure Agents, is a Chinese animated television series produced by the Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture Company. Released in the early 2010s, the series was designed to appeal to a younger demographic by blending elements of action, espionage, and comedy. It emerged during a period of rapid expansion for the Chinese animation industry, which aimed to create domestic intellectual properties capable of competing with imported international media through high-energy storytelling and distinct character designs.

The creative team focused on developing a cast of anthropomorphic animal characters, each equipped with specialized gadgets, to fulfill roles as secret agents protecting national treasures. The aesthetic choices were heavily influenced by contemporary trends in toy-etic animation, prioritizing bold color palettes and dynamic action sequences. Upon its release, the show received a favorable reception from its target audience in China, eventually spawning a successful line of merchandise that mirrored the gadgets and figures featured in the episodes.
