Trouble arises in Staccato one day. Demons show up and start to wreak havoc on the townspeople. The entire country seems to be suffering. The source of the problem is that the "barrier" which until now has kept the demons from crossing over to the human world, is weakening. The person who sustains it is losing her strength after holding it up for so many years. That person is Queen Horn of Sforzando. Hell King Bass is trying to break through the barrier and release their "supreme leader," Kestra (Orchestra). One whose power is unparalleled yet is trapped somewhere in the world of the humans.

Where it came from
Hamelin no Violin Hiki was produced by Studio DEEN and aired in 1996 as an adaptation of Michiaki Watanabe’s dark fantasy manga. The series emerged during a period when the studio was heavily involved in adapting shonen manga, attempting to balance the source material’s gothic, high-stakes narrative with the medium’s constraints of the time.
The character designs and animation style were crafted to reflect the manga's unique blend of dark humor and dramatic intensity. While the series maintains a dedicated cult following for its unconventional tone and memorable musical themes, it remains a product of its era, known primarily among animation historians for its shift away from standard 90s action tropes toward a more melancholic and tragic aesthetic.
