Tottoko Hamutaro Hai! is the sequel to Tottoko Hamutaro, or in English, Hamtaro. The series revolves around the 15 original Ham-Hams in short 5-minute episodes. The Hai! series is animated differently from the original series, most notably, the head-to-body ratio is off, and it is also computer-generated in 3-D.

Where it came from
Hamtaro Hai! serves as the fifth season of the long-running Hamtaro anime series, which originated from Ritsuko Kawai's popular manga. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the series was designed to expand the franchise's narrative scope following the conclusion of the primary story arcs, focusing on the whimsical daily lives and adventures of a group of hamsters who communicate through their own secret language. The 2006 production continued the established lighthearted aesthetic that defined the series, emphasizing friendship and cooperative problem-solving for a younger demographic.
The animation and character design for the franchise were maintained to ensure consistency with the established visual identity created during the series' international boom in the early 2000s. While Hamtaro Hai! captured the same charm that made its predecessors staples of morning television, by 2006, the series was navigating a shifting landscape in children's broadcasting. It was received as a nostalgic continuation of the Hamtaro brand, appreciated by loyal fans for its familiar tone and gentle, episodic storytelling.
