Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life

Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life emerged in 2026 as a fantasy-comedy production from Studio Pony Canyon. The series was conceptualized to capitalize on the rising popularity of 'isekai' subversion tropes, focusing on a protagonist who finds the peaceful nature of her afterlife existence frustrating rather than rewarding. It serves as a narrative expansion of contemporary trends in Japanese light novel adaptations, emphasizing character-driven humor over traditional high-fantasy stakes.

The visual direction and character design were crafted to balance minimalist aesthetic choices with expressive, exaggerated animation sequences during combat-themed gags. By focusing on the juxtaposition between the mundane surroundings of the afterlife and the protagonist's aggressive combat-oriented personality, the studio aimed to create a distinct aesthetic identity. Upon its broadcast, the series was noted for its departure from traditional seasonal tropes, drawing praise for its pacing and the specific stylistic choices employed by the animation team.
