Where it came from
Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku: Kinetograph was released in 2012 as an original video animation (OVA) adaptation derived from the popular otome visual novel series developed by Otomate. Produced by the studio Anpro, the project aimed to translate the intricate Taisho-era drama of the Miyanomori family into a serialized animated format, focusing on the complex power dynamics and romantic tensions surrounding the patriarch's potential successors.
The character designs were conceptualized to capture the opulent and formal aesthetic of early 20th-century Japan, emphasizing the distinction between the high-society Miyanomori clan and the domestic staff characters. Upon its release, the animation was primarily received by the established fan base of the game, serving as a companion piece that expanded on the visual world-building and character interactions established in the source material.
