Where it came from
HAPPY☆LESSON: Hoka Hoka★Kanna to Futari Kiri serves as an original video animation release within the broader HAPPY☆LESSON franchise, which originated as a manga series serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine. The franchise centered on the life of an orphaned student who finds himself living with five distinct female teachers, blending romantic comedy tropes with a lighthearted harem narrative that was popular in early 2000s Japanese media.
The production was handled by Studio KSS, a firm known for its contributions to various anime adaptations during this period. The special was designed to expand upon the character dynamics established in the television series, focusing specifically on the character Kanna Hazuki. The design language of the project remains consistent with the bright, vibrant aesthetic typical of the genre, prioritizing character-focused storytelling to appeal to established fans of the manga and TV broadcast.
