Where it came from
Harukana Receive: Yokoku was produced in 2018 by studio C2C as a series of promotional shorts intended to build anticipation for the television anime adaptation of Nyoijizai's manga series. These previews served as a narrative bridge, introducing audiences to the sun-drenched atmosphere of Okinawa and the fundamental mechanics of the sport of beach volleyball that anchor the primary story. The production sought to capture the vibrant, breezy aesthetic of the coastal setting while highlighting the central relationship between the two protagonists, Haruka and Kanata.
The character designs and animation direction were tailored to reflect the series' focus on athletic growth and summer-themed escapism. By leaning into bright color palettes and fluid movement, the studio aimed to differentiate the show within the saturated sports genre, grounding the drama in the technical nuances of competitive volleyball. Upon its release, the promotional material was noted for its faithful adaptation of the original manga's visual style and its successful establishment of the series' lighthearted yet earnest tone.
