Based on the eroge visual novel Harukoi Otome ~En de Gokigenyou~ by BaseSon.
Harukoi Otome revolves around protagonist Akihito Hayasaka, a male high-school sophomore. The high school he attends St. Francesca Academy used to be an all-girls school, and still has a high percentage of female students. Akihito's younger sister (Umi Hayasaka) and his childhood friend (Yuika Serizawa) are also students there. Akihito meets many girls there, and becomes friends with them.

Where it came from
Harukoi Otome, released in 2008 by Studio D3, is an original video animation that serves as an adaptation of the visual novel genre popular in the late 2000s. The narrative focuses on the romantic entanglements and school-life dynamics typical of the era's light-hearted harem series. It emerged during a period when studios frequently leveraged the success of adult-oriented or character-driven visual novels to create short-form animated tie-ins, aiming to broaden the franchise's reach to a wider audience through visual storytelling.
The animation design emphasizes the aesthetic sensibilities of the mid-2000s, characterized by soft line work and archetypal character designs intended to translate the static illustrations of the source material into motion. While not intended as a groundbreaking stylistic departure, the OVA was produced with a focus on capturing the charm and personality of the original game's heroines. Upon release, it was received primarily by the established fan base of the visual novel, serving as a companion piece rather than a standalone narrative work.
