Hayate the Combat Butler: Can't Take My Eyes Off You

Hayate the Combat Butler: Can't Take My Eyes Off You, released in 2012, serves as the third television series adaptation of Kenjiro Hata’s long-running manga series. Produced by Manglobe rather than the previous animation studios, this iteration was conceived to offer an original storyline written by Hata himself, stepping away from the direct adaptations of the source material that characterized earlier seasons. The series was designed to maintain the franchise's signature blend of slapstick comedy, parody, and harem dynamics while introducing a more cohesive narrative arc centered on a mysterious hidden treasure in Las Vegas.

The animation style of this season was notable for its shift toward a more modern, refined aesthetic compared to its predecessors. Despite the involvement of the original author in the scriptwriting process, the series received a mixed reception from the existing fan base, who were accustomed to the established comedic pacing of the earlier anime adaptations. It remains a distinct entry in the franchise, representing a bridge between the classic manga roots and the experimental approach to character development that defined the later years of the series' production.
