Heaven's Design Team: Idea 13

Heaven's Design Team, or Tenchi Souzou Design-bu, originated as a manga series before being adapted into an ONA series by Asahi Production in 2021. The narrative serves as a whimsical, educational comedy that explores the complexities of evolutionary biology through the lens of a celestial department tasked with creating animals for Earth at God's request. Idea 13, specifically, reflects the series' signature blend of creative problem-solving and scientific trivia, focusing on the iterative and often humorous process of design required to make life functional within the constraints of physics and habitat.

The series design aesthetic was crafted to balance whimsical character dynamics with accurate anatomical depictions of the creatures being proposed. Asahi Production prioritized a clean, bright visual style that makes the heavy lifting of biological explanation feel accessible and lighthearted. Upon its release, the project was well-received for its unique ability to marry genuine scientific interest with a workplace-sitcom format, earning praise for its clever writing and the distinct personality infused into every creature concept.
