Where it came from
High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World originated as a light novel series written by Riku Misora and illustrated by Sacraneko. The anime adaptation, produced by studio project No.9 and directed by Shinsuke Yanagi, premiered in 2019 during a period when the isekai genre dominated the landscape of Japanese animation. The narrative centers on seven exceptionally gifted teenagers who survive a plane crash only to find themselves in a medieval fantasy world, where they decide to utilize their advanced skills and intellect to reshape the local society.
In designing the adaptation, the production team aimed to emphasize the unique expertise of each protagonist, spanning fields from politics and economics to engineering and medicine. The visual style reflects the standard aesthetic of late 2010s light novel adaptations, focusing on character-driven designs that highlight the protagonists' individual specialties. While the series received attention for its premise of applying modern infrastructure and strategy to a fantasy setting, critical reception was mixed, with audiences often debating its approach to power-fantasy storytelling and its departure from traditional isekai tropes.
