The locals know all about Dr. Fuwa. His reputation for taking advantage of his female patients has left him little to do except his nurse Megumi. When he`s suddenly called in to investigate a mysterious illness that`s been affecting the nuns on a remote island, Dr. Fuwa`s certainly not above having a little fun with the patients – each and every one of them a cute little nun-in-training. Where it came from
Holy Virgins was produced by the studio Digital Works and released in 2001 as an original video animation. It emerged during a period of rapid expansion for the independent adult anime market in Japan, where small studios experimented with niche genres and limited-run animation techniques to cater to a growing audience of collectors seeking specific thematic content.
The creative direction and visual design of the title reflect the aesthetic standards prevalent in early 2000s direct-to-video animation, which often emphasized stylized character models and streamlined production workflows. As a product of a smaller studio, the title is characterized by its adherence to the conventions of its genre, serving as an example of the digital-era transition in animation where traditional cel work began to be supplemented or replaced by early computer-generated processes.
