In the Forest of Scraps, a place where all manner of things are discarded, an old dragon sleeps away his final days—that is, until an abandoned child suddenly appears before him. The tiny human is Eve, and despite being only five years of age, she has somehow endured the many dangers that surround them. In an act of pity, the dragon decides to raise her as his own...but his time is still running out.
After five years together, he takes his last breath, leaving his precious daughter on her own. Little does the dragon know, Eve is capable of more than he realizes, and their reunion may be sooner than he thinks…

Where it came from
Hone Dragon no Mana Musume, released as 'My Daughter, the Dragon's Pupil,' originates from the prolific Doga Kobo studio, a production house renowned for its character-focused animation style and dedication to slice-of-life storytelling. The series was developed during a period in which the studio was cementing its reputation for vibrant, polished aesthetics and emotional resonance, adapting established source material to explore themes of mentorship and unconventional family dynamics.
The production sought to balance lighthearted fantasy adventure with the tender, evolving relationship between the lead characters. By employing a clean, expressive art style, the design team aimed to emphasize the juxtaposition between the formidable nature of the dragon and the vulnerability of the young protagonist, creating a visual narrative that was received by audiences as a heartwarming and charming entry within the studio's broader catalog of sentimental anime works.
