Where it came from
Released in November 2023, 'H-Hello, I'm Huohuo' serves as a promotional short film for the game Honkai: Star Rail. Produced by miHoYo Anime, it was created to introduce the character Huohuo, a young Ten-Lords Commission judge, alongside the game's version 1.5 update. The short was designed to bridge the gap between in-game lore and cinematic storytelling, providing players with a deeper look at the character's timid personality and her symbiotic relationship with the heliobus Tail.
The animation reflects the high-fidelity aesthetic synonymous with the developer's internal creative studios. By focusing on Huohuo's internal struggle and her supernatural surroundings, the piece aimed to build emotional resonance before her playable debut. Upon release, it was well received by the community for its fluid animation style and the balance it struck between the character's haunting supernatural themes and the game's established whimsical humor.
