Where it came from
Honto ni Atta! Reibai Sensei originated as a comedic manga series by Q-taro Hanamizawa before being adapted into an anime television series by the studio DLE in 2011. The story centers on a middle school teacher who possesses psychic abilities, utilizing this premise to blend supernatural themes with absurd, lighthearted humor that reflects the unique stylistic sensibilities of Hanamizawa's source material.
The production was spearheaded by DLE, a studio widely recognized for its distinctive Flash-animation aesthetic and fast-paced, improvisational comedic approach. By focusing on the whimsical interactions between the protagonist and her eccentric students, the series aimed to capture the charm of low-budget, character-driven gag anime, resulting in a niche but well-regarded work that emphasizes storytelling and humor over complex visual spectacle.
