Host ni Iroiro Kiitemita

Host ni Iroiro Kiitemita, or 'I Asked the Host Various Things,' was produced by the studio Fanworks as a digital ONA series. Released to engage with the growing curiosity surrounding the nightlife culture of Japan’s host clubs, the series adopts a candid interview format. It provides a platform for professional hosts to demystify their daily operations, the social nuances of their roles, and the expectations of their clientele.

The animation style is characteristic of Fanworks, which often utilizes minimalist, clean designs to focus on dialogue and character personality rather than high-octane action. By stripping away complex visual spectacle, the series leans into the persona-driven nature of the host industry. It was received as a straightforward, documentary-style exploration that sought to bridge the gap between the public’s perception of the host world and the reality described by the participants.
